WHAT IS ATHLETIC CONDITIONING SERIES?

Have you ever watched a pro athlete and ask yourself, "I wonder what they do to be in such great shape. Would I be able to do a workout like a professional athlete?" Well now you have your chance to find out. Flex5 Athletic Conditioning Series is meant to bring out your inner athlete and push you to your limit. 

This series is designed to be high intensity and burn fat and build lean muscle. Most professional athletes are in top shape, so, why don't we all train like athletes if it works for them? Now is your chance to get the same kind of attention as a pro. We will do initial weigh ins (weight, body fat, measurements) as well as post series weigh ins. The workouts will consist of high intensity, full body exercises that will not only challenge your strength, but your cardiovascular level as well. This will challenge you physically and mentally and will leave you feeling tired, yet accomplished after every class! Now who's ready to work?

WHAT IS CHAKRA FLOW YOGA SERIES?

Meditation has been practiced in India for thousands of years because people knew that it reduces stress, calms the mind and increases inner peace. In the 1970s medical researchers at Harvard University began studying Meditation. They found that during the practice of meditation the body has what they call the relaxation response, which gives the body deep rest that is deeper than the rest from sleep. They also found that through regular meditation that deep rest builds up in the body over time, and it is that deepening reservoir of rest that reduces stress and results in the many benefits of meditation.

 

Stress accounts for over 60% of doctor visits. Meditation has been found that it can lower blood pressure, cholesterol and the risk of heart disease and stroke, can help relieve stress, depression, insomnia, sleeplessness, anxiety and worry, and can increase productivity, learning, happiness, well being and inner peace. And people report having more mindfulness and deeper transcendence when Yoga and Meditation are combined. 

 

In the next 10 weeks we will explore the many facets of Chakra Flow Yoga and how movement and breath can sync in ecstasy and prepare the body for Meditation. We will practice many different forms of mediation so that you can find the practice that most suits you.

WHAT ARE THE CHAKRAS?

The 7 Chakras are energy wheels in our body in which energy flows through. Blocked energy in our Chakras can often lead to illness so it’s important to understand what each Chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely. Here’s a quick summary:

1. MULADHARA CHAKRA

  • Element - Earth

  • Location - Soles of the feet to the base of the spine

  • Color - Red

  • Organs - Bowels, bladder, urethra, elimination

  • Related - Survival instincts, basic needs, your tribe

  • Over active - Stubborn, stuck, too trusting

  • Under active - Flighty, unable to finish anything,

  • unable to trust

  • Demon - Fear

  • Right - To Be Here

 

2. SVADISTHANA CHAKRA

  • Element - Water

  • Location - Hips, Pelvis

  • Color - Orange

  • Organs - Reproductive organs, sexual organs

  • Related to - Creativity, libido

  • Over active - Lustful, greedy

  • Under active - Dull, colorless

  • Demon - Guilt

  • Right - To Feel

 

3. MANIPURIS CHAKRA

  • Element - Fire

  • Location - Belly

  • Color - Yellow

  • Organs - Digestive system, kidneys, liver

  • Related to - Confidence, determination, transformation

  • Over active - Aggressive, Bossy

  • Under active - Cowardly, weak willed

  • Demon - Shame

  • Right - To Act

 

4. ANAHATA CHAKRA

  • Element - Air

  • Location - Heart center

  • Color - Green

  • Organs - Heart, Lungs

  • Related to - Community, Compassion, forgiveness

  • Over active - Ineffective, overly sensitive

  • Under active - Unable to connect, unforgiving

  • Demon - Grief

  • Right - To Love

 

5. VISSUDI CHAKRA

  • Element - Ether

  • Location - Throat

  • Color - Turquiose

  • Organs - Thyroid, larynx

  • Related to - Communication, speaking, listening

  • Over active - Gossipy, TMI, hyperthyroid

  • Under active - Ineffectual communication,

6. ANJA CHAKRA

TABATA CORE HIIT TRAINING

WHAT IS TABATA?

Tabata style of high intensity interval training (HIIT) was developed by  Japanese physician and researcher Dr. Izumi Tabata. It consists of a series of exercises performed in intervals of 20/10: 20 seconds of all out work followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated eight times for a total of 4 minutes per exercise. Research has shown that this type of interval training not only significantly boosts anaerobic fitness levels and burns serious calories during the workout, but can actually increase the amount of calories your body burns up to 24 hours after you've stopped. Who wouldn't like that?!

During this 10 week series, participants will be led through Tabata inclusive style workouts designed to increase core strength and shred fat. Each class utilizes High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and Tabata principles to maximize calorie burn and cardiovascular benefit in condensed, express classes that fit into your busy lifestyle.
