Top Superfoods For Good Nutrition

What are some of the top Flex5 Team favorite foods? Check out our top superfoods for good nutrition below.

Chia Seeds

Yes, cha-cha-chia. Perhaps better known as the seeds used to grow grass-like fur on your clay Albert Einstein or sheep; this tiny seed can put flaxseed to shame. Besides being an excellent source of fiber, omega fatty acids and protein, it also contains free-radical fighting antioxidants, 2x more potassium than bananas ,3x more iron than spinach and 5x more calcium then milk. Toss it in your next salad, bowl of oatmeal or protein shake.

Ezekiel / Sprouted Grains

Most likely you’ve taken the first step into better health by switching to wheat bread from white. Sadly, with high fructose corn syrup, sugar, dough conditioners and preservatives add to most, whole-wheat quickly loses its appeal. Sprouted grain breads are a superior option with more fiber, minerals, complete proteins and less gluten.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is primarily saturated fat. Correct, saturated fats can actually be great for you. These saturated fats are better known as MCT’s, or medium chain triglycerides. Such fats are preferably burned for energy before being considered stored body-fat material. These fats can also convert to monolaurin in the body, having antifungal, antibacterial and antioxidant properties. Be sure to always buy unrefined and preferably organic. Use it your next batch of baked goods or smoothie. Heck, you can even toss this on your face and hair for improved moisture.

Goji Berries

Being one of Chinas many super-stars in the world of health, goji berries pack many benefits. Those ranging from being rich in antioxidants, boosting the immune system to stimulating the pituitary gland, releasing natural HGH, Human Growth Hormone.  Goji berries are also very high in protein compared to most fruits, being an invaluable option for vegetarians.

No, a dark chocolate Snickers does not count. We are talking about REAL 100% dark chocolate. Unlike its evil twin; milk chocolate, real cacoa is loaded with antioxidants and minerals, which in turn can help lower bad cholesterol and decrease blood pressure. Keep some on hand and toss it in a shake, bowl of yogurt or anywhere a little chocolate would be tasty (leaving many options!).
